Famou Machinery By Famou Machinery

Cow free stall dimensions should be developed from the cattle group and the complete resting-area layout. Overall tube dimensions, usable space and the position of connected parts describe different things. A supplier drawing needs to make those references clear before the equipment is ordered.

Describe the animals and barn arrangement

Provide the relevant cattle information and the intended resting-area configuration. Show neighbouring stalls, passages and fixed building features. The farm's responsible designer should assess the arrangement against its housing requirements; no single catalogue dimension is appropriate for every group.

For a retrofit, measure the actual installation and identify which supports or floor features will remain. Photographs should show connections and surrounding clearance, not just the divider tube viewed from one angle.

Distinguish dimensions on the drawing

Ask the supplier to label the divider geometry, mounting positions and relevant internal clearances. Identify which components are adjustable and the intended range. A drawing that gives only the outside length of a tube does not establish the complete resting-space arrangement.

Review how the supplied parts relate to the building and surface configuration. Any structural or fixing design should use the actual equipment information and be confirmed by the appropriate qualified parties.

Include operation and maintenance access

Show how the resting area connects to cattle movement and cleaning routes. Ask which components may need replacement and how they are removed. An adjustment or fixing point should remain accessible after the complete row is installed.

Record the material and finish of the supplied parts separately from assumptions about durability. Cleaning methods and exposure conditions should be considered with the product instructions. Avoid assigning a universal life expectancy to the assembly from its material label alone.

Keep a coordinated approval package

  • Cattle group and housing brief.
  • Plan and section of the resting area.
  • Clearly labelled geometry and adjustment details.
  • Mounting and building-interface responsibilities.
  • Installation and service instructions.

Where several configurations are proposed, compare them within the same barn outline and management brief. The best fit should be explainable through the animals, space and operating arrangement. Retain the accepted drawing as the reference for installation and later replacement so changes are reviewed against the actual design rather than remembered dimensions.
