Start with nest access

Ask the supplier to show the proposed nest arrangement and the method of opening, removing and replacing it. Check the working clearance in the actual row configuration, particularly if cages are stacked or installed close to a wall. An accessory that can be removed on a showroom floor may be difficult to handle in a finished shed.

Confirm which nest components are included and which are optional. Obtain material and cleaning information, and discuss suitability with the farm team. Do not assume a nest design fits every management system simply because it is offered with a breeding cage.

Coordinate feeders and drinkers

Identify the feeding arrangement and the position of the water connection. Check whether these components obstruct doors or nest access. For a shared feed or water line, ask how a single position is serviced without unnecessarily disturbing the whole row.

The quotation should distinguish cage frames, mesh, doors, feeding accessories and water fittings. This makes it possible to compare offers and order spare parts later. Ask for part references for components likely to be removed during normal cleaning or handling.

Review the worker's sequence

Demonstrate opening the cage, inspecting the nest, checking the feeding point and closing everything securely. Look at latch operation, reach and the space needed to carry a removed component. Review accessible edges and fixings before accepting a repeated installation.

Use the approved sample as the reference for the full order. Photograph the accessory positions and record any agreed changes on the drawing. Consistency matters: small differences in door direction or fitting location can complicate daily work across a large number of cages, even where the basic frame dimensions are identical.
