A farm control-box specification should connect the enclosure, electrical components and operating functions to the equipment it serves. A photograph of a cabinet does not reveal its circuit design or suitability for the installation. Provide a load and function schedule before requesting the final assembly.
Define the connected equipment
List the devices, their relevant electrical information and the intended control relationship. Identify motors, actuators, sensors and external controllers separately. The electrical designer needs the actual equipment information rather than a total number of machines.
Describe which functions operate independently and which are linked. Record any existing control equipment that will remain. This allows the proposed box to be reviewed as part of a system rather than an isolated cabinet.

Describe the environment and access
State the installation location, exposure and cleaning conditions. Request the enclosure and component specifications appropriate to that brief. A general farm-use label does not establish the required protection for every location.
Plan space for safe access and service. Relevant electrical design, protection and installation must be handled by qualified personnel using the applicable requirements. Do not use a generic cabinet outline as permission to locate the assembly wherever space happens to remain.
Request drawings and identification
The supplied package should include the relevant electrical and connection drawings, component references and labelling. Ask how terminals and field connections are identified. The operator and maintenance team should be able to relate an installed device to the documentation.
Clarify the limits of the supply: field wiring, sensors, mounting, programming and commissioning may be separate items. Assign responsibility for each interface before installation begins.
Define acceptance by function
- Cabinet and component references match the approved design.
- Required drawings and labels are supplied.
- Field interfaces are completed by the responsible parties.
- Specified functions are tested under the agreed procedure.
- Final configuration and open items are documented.
Keep the completed drawings with later changes. Adding a device or replacing a component should prompt the appropriate design review, not merely a search for spare physical space inside the cabinet. A clear specification makes the control box maintainable and helps prevent the installed assembly from drifting away from its documented electrical and functional design.
