A farm equipment site survey should give designers enough information to position equipment and define its connections. General photographs are useful context, but they rarely replace measured dimensions. Prepare a structured survey pack with a drawing reference for every measurement and image.

Measure the fixed constraints

Record internal lengths and widths, clear heights, column positions and door openings. Include floor levels, pits, drains and existing foundations where relevant. Mark the measurement units and state which dimensions have been physically checked.

Photograph each wall and important obstruction from a position that can be identified on the plan. Add close views of proposed mounting and connection points. Use a measured reference where scale would otherwise be unclear; do not ask a supplier to estimate critical dimensions from perspective photographs.

Document services and delivery access

Collect available electrical and water information from the responsible site personnel. Record connection locations and identify information still requiring specialist verification. A photograph of a cable or pipe does not establish its available capacity.

Measure the delivery route, unloading area and access into the building. Include narrow turns, overhead restrictions and temporary obstacles. Large assemblies may fit inside the finished house but still be unable to pass through its entrance.

Label uncertainties explicitly

Separate confirmed measurements from design intentions and estimates. Use a dated issue log for unanswered questions. If construction is ongoing, state the expected finished levels and identify who will confirm them before fabrication.

Send a compact package containing the marked plan, measurement table and numbered photographs. Retain the original files so later questions can be traced back to the survey. A clear survey reduces repeated correspondence and prevents provisional site information from quietly becoming an unverified manufacturing dimension.
