Pullet rearing cages should be evaluated for the period the birds will spend in them and the transfer that follows. The frame is only part of that decision. Feeding access, drinking-line adjustment, inspection and removal of birds all need to be understood for the chosen configuration.
Define the rearing stage and transfer plan
Describe the intended use period and the next housing stage in the farm's production plan. Ask the supplier which cage configuration is proposed for that use. Famou Machinery lists more than one layer-rearing model, so the order should identify the relevant model rather than simply request a rearing cage.
Plan how birds enter and leave the equipment. Show access doors, working passages and the connection to the next handling operation. A transfer arrangement should be reviewed before row positions are fixed, particularly when the house has restricted doors or limited end space.

Examine adjustable feeding and water components
Ask which components move, how the movement is controlled and how the operator checks the result. Identify the access needed at each tier. The configuration should be clear on the cage section, not left to interpretation from a general photograph.
Where components are adjusted across a row, discuss how uneven movement or a disconnected section is identified. Follow the model instructions for settings and operating checks. A setting used in another house is not automatically appropriate for a different cage or bird group.
Compare the complete installed system
Review feeding, drinking, manure handling and environmental interfaces together. The equipment schedule should identify the point where each system connects to the rest of the house. Confirm which controls, support parts and service connections are included.
Access for inspection matters throughout the rearing period. Check how the operator reaches upper positions, sees the relevant equipment and reports an issue by location. A row and tier identification system can make maintenance records more useful.
Keep model comparisons explicit
- Exact cage model and drawing revision.
- Intended rearing use and transfer arrangement.
- Feeding and drinking adjustment functions.
- Row, tier and service-access layout.
- Installation and operator-training package.
When two cage models are offered, ask for a comparison using the same house outline and production brief. That reveals whether the difference concerns geometry, access or the supplied equipment. It also prevents a model number or a nominal capacity from becoming the sole basis for selecting equipment that will be used through changing stages of the flock.
