PVC and aluminum cooling-pad systems should be compared as complete frame and water-management arrangements. The material used for the visible frame is only part of the difference. Media retention, drainage, joints and replacement access can determine how practical the assembly is to operate.
Identify which parts use each material
Ask for the component schedule covering frame, gutter or sump, distribution parts, connectors and fixings. A system marketed by one material may include several others. Confirm which components are included in the offer and which are optional.
Compare the same pad arrangement and design duty. If one proposal includes a bottom collection component and another leaves it to the installer, their prices represent different scopes. Resolve that difference before treating the quotation as a material comparison.

Review joints and mounting
Request the assembly details at corners, supports and building connections. Identify the sealing method and any movement or installation allowance specified by the manufacturer. The building opening and support arrangement should be confirmed for the actual model.
For a retrofit, record the existing opening and attachment points. A new frame material does not establish that the old supports, joints or pad dimensions can be reused. Ask which parts of the original installation remain compatible.
Follow water through the assembly
Locate distribution points and the return path to the collection system. Ask how operators inspect those areas and clear a problem using the approved method. The arrangement should provide access to the relevant parts after the complete installation is finished.
Confirm cleaning-product and water-condition requirements for all components. Material labels alone do not define compatibility. Keep the supplier's instructions with the maintenance record so replacement media and cleaning practices remain consistent with the system.
Compare service tasks
- Removal and replacement of a pad section.
- Inspection of joints and distribution components.
- Access to the bottom collection arrangement.
- Identification of seals, connectors and repair parts.
- Mounting and building work required for installation.
Famou Machinery's PVC-bottom and aluminum-alloy directions provide alternatives to discuss within a cooling system proposal. The preferred arrangement should be selected from its fit, service access and complete scope. Avoid deciding that one material is always better without considering how the specific assembly will be installed and maintained on the farm.
